![]() I realise I'm an early adopter, and that sometimes has its price. IPad Pro 12,9 (4th gen) + Apple Pencil 2, does not connect □ Dear community, I'm having a hard time giving up on this pencil because the iPads connect to it. Re-verified that the iPad does work with other pencils. Got the "Tap to Connect" window, and successfully connected, turning Bluetooth back on. With the Bluetooth off, connected the problem pencil. Went to settings and elected to "Forget this Device" in the Bluetooth menu (making sure it's the problem pencil we're forgetting)įorgot the device and turned off Bluetooth. The have seemingly accurately detected the pencil in 30-something percent, 90-something percent, and 100 percent charge. When we connect another Apple pencil, they work fine.Ĭhecked to see if the iPads can detect the charge status in different states. None of the iPads respond to it when using it. They connect and the iPad responds normally to them.Ĭonnecting other 11" iPad pros to the problem pencil. Trying other 2nd gen Apple Pencils on my daughter's iPad. Verified it's an issue with the pencil and not the iPad by: Trying another new tip on the problem pencil also doesn't work. Verified that the new tip is not an issue, by trying it on a working Apple Pencil. Replaced the tip with a brand new Apple Pencil tip. I gently attempted to clean the nib by blowing on it (thanks Sega Genesis) The square conductor on top of the nib appears intact and everything about the gold-colored conductor on this nib appears identical to a working pencil. Removed the tip of the pencil and inspected the nib of the pencil for any obvious physical damage, or dirty/scratched/irregular conductor material. There are no cracks or scratches (or even blemishes) on the pencil. Visually inspected the pencil for obvious physical damage. We have taken the following steps several times: The iPad is not responding to it in the OS, in Procreate, in Safari. The problem is that my daughter's 2nd Gen Apple Pencil will connect to her iPad (or any of the other 11" iPad Pros we have) but it doesn't appear to be sending the proper signal to the iPad that would cause it to work. I NEED to have this pencil on a daily basis for work.Īpple Pencil 2 Connected but Not Working We have several iPad Pros in the family, so I've had the good fortune of being able to test and rule out some issues here. Do I just need to give in and buy a new one. ![]() There is no apple store where I live so I can’t just bring it in. ![]() Force restart (click up volume, down volume, power button until apple logo shows.Restart iPad (I got it to work for half a second which is why I know the nib doesn’t need to be replaced.Go to settings forget this device and then re-pair it.Then about 30 seconds later another widget with the battery would drop down then I would go to the settings and it says connected but the second I remove it from the magnet it disconnects, then it would reconnect for a split second then disconnect. Realized it was a connection issue because then I docked it again the apple pencil widget appeared and would just pulse between dark grey and white. I checked the nib, nope fully screwed on. I restarted it and then when I docked the pencil again it said 100%, I thought the issue was fixed but when I tried to write still unresponsive. So I left it there to charge and after 15 minutes it still said 2% so I though maybe it’s an issue with my iPad. I tried to get it to charge and when the little widget dropped down it said 60% then suddenly dropped to 2%. For just over a year now and last night I tried to get it to write on my iPad and it wasn’t responding I assumed it was dead since I was using it a lot for a drawing just under an hour ago.
